Network Modernisation with a Virtual Network Platform
Solution: Network modernisation
Customer Value: Scalable, flexible network infrastructure that is more equipped to meet NSB’s future needs.
NSB takes its first step towards the Cloud and opts for a new virtual network platform from IPnett. “We need secure, stable solutions that can still be used in the future,” says Margareth Nordby-Kringli from NSB.
All of NSB’s data systems are connected to identical servers in different places, so-called geo-redundant data centres. To simplify and ensure secure operations, IPnett has supplied a new solution for communication between the different servers and services.
IPnett reliable partner
“The infrastructure must provide capacity and must be stable. With this new solution, we are equipped to deal with the demand for increased security and greater stability,” Margareth Nordby-Kringli, Head of IT Operations at NSB Shared Services.
In March 2013, IPnett rolled out a new ‘Shortest Path Bridging’ (SPB) solution for NSB. This SPB technology means that if the connection to one server or service goes down, it will automatically connect to another server within the nearest proximity. That way the risk of downtime is reduced.
IPnett one of Europe’s leading system integrators
Shortest Path Bridging is a technology developed by Avaya. Over the past few years IPnett has become one of Europe’s leading integrators of this technology delivering complex networks and communication systems to large enterprises. All rollout projects to date have been carried out successfully and problem-free, which is also the case for NSB.
